Upon completing a season, it is easy to dwell upon the shortcomings of one’s races and training. Nothing is perfect, especially not if you are a slightly controlling endurance athlete. After finishing this season, however, I’ve abandoned my traditional approach of picking apart my racing and training. Why this sudden change in behavior, you ask? It isn’t because my races were flawless or because I have no further improvement to make, nor is it because I had an overhaul of my character, for better or worse. Instead, my anticipation of the 2008 season is keeping me from looking at the past. Between my involvement with the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver and preparations for Olympic Trials, I look forward to 2008 with great eagerness. In the words of the one-hit wonder Timbuk 3, “The Future’s so Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades”. In the meantime, I’ll leave the analysis of my ’07 season to my coach!
